The Saudi Export-Import Bank (Saudi EXIM) participated in the Berne Union Annual Meetings, the world's leading organization in the field of export credit and investment insurance, held in Ottawa, Canada, from 21–23 October 2025. The meetings brought together export credit and insurance agencies from across the globe to enhance international cooperation in export credit and insurance, and to develop the global trade finance ecosystem.
The Bank's participation aimed to expand international cooperation and build strategic partnerships that enable the access of Saudi non-oil exports to global markets and strengthen their competitiveness, in line with the Bank's mandate to enhance the national economy and achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
During the meetings, Eng. Suhaib Al-Hussaini, Chief Risk Officer of Saudi EXIM Bank, was elected Chair of the Prague Committee of the Berne Union for the term 2025–2027 — a significant milestone that reflects the growing international recognition of Saudi EXIM's leadership role in advancing the global export credit and insurance landscape.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Bank signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP) of the Czech Republic, Uzbekinvest Export and Import Insurance Company of Uzbekistan, and Export Development Canada (EDC) of Canada.
The MoUs were signed by Eng. Suhaib Al-Hussaini, Chief Risk Officer of Saudi EXIM Bank, with Mr. David Havlicek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EGAP; Mr. Rustam Azimov, CEO of Uzbekinvest; and Mr. Todd Winterhalt, Senior Vice President of International Markets at EDC.
The agreements aim to enhance cooperation in reinsurance, exchange of expertise, joint project development, and co-financing, in addition to exploring collaboration opportunities between Saudi and international companies in clean technology, advanced manufacturing, and food security.
Commenting on his election, Eng. Al-Hussaini said: “I am deeply honored by the trust of the Berne Union members. We look forward to strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise to develop innovative solutions that support the growth and sustainability of global trade."
He added: “Saudi EXIM Bank's participation in the Berne Union Meetings represents an important step in consolidating its international presence and enhancing its partnerships with leading export credit and insurance institutions worldwide. The signing of these MoUs stems from a shared commitment to fostering trade relations, expanding future cooperation, and enabling Saudi exporters to reach new global markets."
In addition, the bank's delegation also held bilateral meetings with representatives of international organizations, export credit agencies, and global financial and trade institutions to explore ways to strengthen trade relations and identify opportunities for collaboration across various sectors — enhancing the flow of Saudi non-oil exports to global markets.
